Mary Helen Hardy Brightwell

Mary Helen Hardy Brightwell, 74, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side.
The native and lifelong resident of Savannah was a member of Calvary Baptist Temple where she was the Director of the Girl's Auxiliary and a Sunday school teacher for many years. Ms. Brightwell retired after 23 years of service with the Internal Revenue Service where she received the Gallatin Award bestowed by the Secretary of the Treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie V. Brightwell, Sr. and Mae Pearl Edwards Brightwell and brother, Johnnie V. Brightwell, Jr.
Surviving are her sister, Virginia Rogers of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Doug Baggett, of Richmond Hill, daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bobby Gardner, Jr. of Savannah, and her son, Caroll Hardy, Jr., and partner, Richard Pfister of Savannah. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Andrea M. Gardner, and three grandsons, Tyler D. Baggett, Matthew A. Gardner, and Tommy L. Strickland, Jr. April and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 11, 2010 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 12, 2010 at The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull St., Savannah, GA 31401.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.
Remembrances may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
